Ludwig van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn in 1770, and died 1827 in Vienna. He was a representative of Viennese Classicism and the pioneer of Romanticism.
After a study trip that led Beethoven to Vienna; he acquired a lifelong fascination with the city. In 1792 Vienna became his permanent residence. His virtuoso piano playing impressed the Viennese society and made him a successful composer. In Vienna Beethoven created numerous piano works, symphonies, masses, string quartets, songs and the opera Fidelio.
